Sniffapalooza Reads: Scent of Triumph (and a giveaway!)

For a perfume enthusiast & bibliophile, there’s nothing better than combining the two passions in a fragrant read. That’s why I can’t wait to delve into my Advanced Reader’s Copy of Scent of Triumph that just arrived in the mail today. It’s the debut novel of our good friend, fragrance expert Jan Moran, who is the author of Fabulous Fragrances I and II. And if you’ve ever played around with the Scentsa touch-screen fragrance finder at Sephora, that’s Jan’s creation too!

Scent of Triumph is the story of a Danielle Bretancourt, a talented young French perfumer and couture designer. Her saga is set in Europe and Hollywood during the turmoil of World War II. It takes the reader on a journey through devastating losses, struggles, and revenge, all handled with courage, spirit, and resilience.  Jan drew upon her research for Scentsa, as well as her own family history and her mother’s memories, in writing the novel. As an added treat, Scent of Triumph has a special aromatrack – a stunning perfume developed with V. Mane Fils, a fourth-generation French perfume house. Chimere was blended by perfumer Marvel Fields, who is also the current president of the American Society of Perfumers. It’s a rich floral Oriental blend centered on a warm amber accord, with notes of raspberry, mandarin, orange, jasmine, rose, tuberose, patchouli, sandalwood and vanilla.

Since we always love to share our good fortune, we’ve got an Autographed Advanced Reader’s Copy, and an accompanying sample of Chimere, to give away! Please leave a comment and tell us what’s in your fragrance library. One random winner will be chosen to receive the book & perfume sample. GOOD LUCK!

Sniffapalooza’s Atelier Cologne Master Class

It was a gloriously sunny day in Nolita, as Sniffapalooza friends gathered at the Atelier Cologne boutique for an exclusive Master Class hosted by brand co-founder Christophe Cervasel. The Prosecco was flowing, delicious nibbles were served, and fragrant conversation abounded. Master Perfumer Ralf Schwieger, creator of three of the fragrances, was a special guest and the group was rapt as he spoke about his influences and experiences in creating the fragrances, including the just-launched Ambre Nue.

Attendees were treated to unlimited sampling, special gifts, and leather bottle covers were hand-engraved by store manager, Ross Barry. Also present to welcome the enthusiasts were Atelier Cologne President, Gerard Camme, and sales associate, Julia.

There are plans to produce another Atelier Cologne Master Class with Sniffapalooza in early summer, to premiere two new fragrances.
