Our second Salon Series event, merging fragrance with other art forms – Sniffapalooza’s Inspired Pairings: Scent, Wine & Art – took place in NYC last week. Guests were invited to share this interactive experience, which combined a harmony of aromas, flavors, visuals and textures. The proceedings sparked plenty of reactions and conversations!
Our extraordinary partners were the Australian brand Nomad Two Worlds, with Joyce Lanigan presenting their exquisite Raw Spirit fragrance collection created by Master Perfumer Harry Fremont of Firmenich, and Back Label Wine Merchants, Chelsea’s newest wine and spirits emporium, known for their prolific selection and weekly wine classes.
The journey took place in the tasting room of Back Label, where co-owner Patrick Watson greeted arrivals with champagne and savory snacks and cheeses from Back Label’s sister store, Stinky Bklyn. Joyce Lanigan relayed how Nomad Two Worlds began as a fine art collaboration project between international art and fashion photographer Russell James and Australian indigenous artists, and has since evolved into a socially responsible global business with a mission to work with artists from various marginalized communities, including Haitian and American Indian. Their dictate is to ensure that its art and product partnerships provide long-term social and economic benefits to the artists and further the public’s understanding and appreciation of the world’s most threatened cultures. Raw Spirit is Nomad Two World’s first foray into the fragrance world and utilizes ingredients and inspirations from partnership territories.
We had the opportunity to taste four amazing wines, a rare ten-year aged Rye Whiskey, and a superb Sake that Patrick had chosen to meld perfectly with the six Raw Spirit fragrances we sampled – Fire Tree, Desert Blush, Wild Fire, Citadelle, Bijou Vert, and their newest launch, Winter Oak. Russell James’ stunning photographic and personal narrative book, Nomad Two Worlds, was also available for viewing.
