We kicked things off with a very special Fragrance & Chocolate Pairing, which matched our curated niche brands with 2 Chicks With Chocolate‘s delicious bonbons!

Then 28 of us hopped on the bus, box lunches in hand, to tour three of the most unique beauty boutiques in Las Vegas. Marc Birenbaum, Executive Editor of Beauty Store Business Magazine, led the way!

Cosmoprof opened for business the next day – hosting over 1,000 companies from 39 countries – with over 30,000 people attending!

And we even found time for a little fun…..

We’re excited to announce that Sniffapalooza has been chosen to help curate Cosmoprof North America’s new Discover Scent Exhibition! It’s an honor to have been given the opportunity to share our passion for perfume, as well as the chance to nose out new and innovative niche fragrance brands. A dozen sophisticated and unique brands will be presenting their fragrances to the thousands of buyers and press in attendance next week.

Typical Portuguese neighborhoods have always been the heartbeat of social life. Especially the barbershops. Gentlemen with top hats and impeccable suits ventured out for their daily shaves and local news. Badger brushes, knives and shaving cream were the old tradition, now revived by the fragrances of Antiga Barbeira de Bairro. Luis Pereira presented this new line to us at Barbearia Campos, the oldest barbershop in Lisbon. It’s an amazing place with a tonsorial museum and antique barber instruments. As you can see, the men in our travel group certainly enjoyed their hot towel shaves!

Tucked away on the Rua das Francesinhas, lies the oldest public wash house in Lisbon. Lavadouro das Francesinhas is one of the vestiges of an important Portuguese tradition. Under the bright blue skies with a crisp breeze blowing, a laundress toils over the wash tubs where she’s worked for most of her life. A wool rug is carefully scrubbed and rinsed until it meets with her satisfaction. From days long gone, remains the pleasure of caring for clothes and fabric with dedication and love.

The memory of those days has been recreated with the beautiful new lifestyle brand, Aldea de Roupa Branca, which we had the chance to experience firsthand during our journey to Lisbon. It was here, at this historical setting, that our friend Luis Pereira of 100ml Perfumaria invited to inhale the scents of freshly washed laundry drying in the sunshine, in the form of linen spray, ironing mist, soap for fine washables, and drawer sachets.

A very special guest – Master Perfumer Roja Dove – was awaiting our arrival.  After treating us to a delicious fragrance inspired luncheon, Mr. Dove shared his life story in perfumery (see the video excerpt below!)  – from a mother’s goodnight kiss that sparked his love of fragrance as a young boy, to 20 years of work for Guerlain, to an invitation to establish the Roja Dove Haute Parfumerie at Harrod’s in London. And now, Mr. Dove was proud to present us with his own luxurious fragrance line, Roja Parfums. Each scent is a masterpiece – and we sampled them all – and no expense was spared in the raw materials or the opulent gold adorned bottles with Swarovski crystal caps.

We swooned over all the fragrances, but only Enslaved, Innuendo, and Unspoken came home with us! We’d love to share a sample of each of our fragrances with one lucky winner.
