Pros: soothing and balancing
Cons: If you want a strong fragrance, this is not the one.

Yuan Zhi

My first sniff of Yuan Zhi was a smile inducer. There was a rich, almost smoky evocation of mystery and stillness that instantly intrigued. The notes list vanilla, ylang ylang and rose which are all favorites of mine. Together these remind me of a heady bouquet floating in a background of Oolong tea. Deeply calming.

The body lotion employs wheat protein for vitamin e content and meadow flower oil which are both used widely in face creams for their enriching properties. Rarely have I seen these ingredients in body lotions. That may be one of the reasons that Molton Brown is so highly respected as a producer of true quality.

The website lists an abundance of products using this complex scent. The candle has notes of Indian ginger, tangerine and cedarwood. The sleepmist mixes lavendar, bergamot and ylang notes. I confess to spraying this around myself as well as my bedroom or any room. These are nice ways to continue using the scent post grooming.

Yuan Zhi is something that was unknown to me until I smelled this product. There is no perfume quite like it. Said to grow wild in China where it is used is to rebalance and soothe the spirit, combat stress, reduce restlessness and promote sleep. Sounds like something that could be used by most of us. There are few scents that appeal to me at just about any time-even in the midst of a sinus headache. This is one. Heres to Yuan Zhi-one of my favorites.
