Cinquieme Sens, the acclaimed perfumery school from France, has teamed with Pratt Institute and they have created a very special evening for Sniffapalooza members to learn about the Cinquieme Sens Certificate Program in Perfumery on Thursday, December 12 from 6:00-8:00 pm!
Since 1976, Cinquieme Sens has been active in the creation of perfumes and the transmission of a true perfume culture. Their training methodology is offered to perfumery professionals as well as enthusiasts with a desire to learn the language of scent. And now they are opening their door to Sniffapalooza for an exclusive glimpse into their fragrant world!
Cinquieme Sens has designed a two-hour interactive session for us led by the renowned Raymond Matts, who has lived a life in fragrance with experience in all aspects of the global fragrance business. Raymond has been responsible for the strategic development of many prestigious brands, including Aramis, Tommy Hilfiger, Clinique and Origins. His presentation will give an overview of the courses in the Certificate Program – The Technique and Language of Perfumery and Selling Fragrances – covering everything from fragrance history, the physiological aspects of how we smell, the role of the fragrance house in relation to the finished goods supplier, clarifying the roles of IFRA, the various formats for extracting naturals, and defining naturals, synthetics, and reconstitutions. A substantial portion of the session will focus on smelling the different facets used in perfumery and forming a language through smelling. Raymond will share the experience of his own designs, showing examples of his work, and highlighting his interpretations and how he has approached specific projects in his career.
Refreshments will be served, and there will be ample time to ask questions about the Cinquieme Sens Certificate Program and to chat with Raymond. And, as a special token of appreciation to Sniffapalooza members, we are being offered 10% off the price of any of the Perfumery courses.
The location of the event is Pratt Manhattan, 144 West 14th St., Room 213 on the 2nd floor, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. The school is situated between 6th and & 7th Avenues, closer to 7th Avenue.
