Sniffapalooza’s fragrance lovers showed their true passion when they came out on a frigid evening for a Master Class event with perfumery school Cinquieme Sens at Pratt Institute. Sniffapalooza and Cinquieme Sens joined forces to announce two new certificate programs: The Technique and Language of Perfumery and The Fragrance Sales Program.
Cinquieme Sens U.S. Director Laetitia Longuefosse and I invited guests to experience a journey into the world of scent where they could test their sense of smell with key raw materials, learn the physiology of olfaction, understand fragrance structure, explore the perfumer’s palette, and discuss technical and regulatory aspects.
Instructor Raymond Matts, well-known fragrance designer and consultant to many legendary brands, gave a compelling and comprehensive overview of the courses. Featured were the history of fragrance, the roles of the fragrance house and finished goods supplier, defining the roles of IFRA, and characterizing synthetics, naturals and reconstitutions. Ray also shared his own designs and how he approached various projects in his career.
As a special token of appreciation, Sniffapalooza members are being offered the Cinquieme Sens courses at Pratt Institute with a 10% discount which is good through December 31, 2014.
