Sniffapalooza
As I descended the stairs in Barneys Madison Avenue store to their basement beauty emporium, I was struck by a vision so stunning, so compelling, so emphatically *startling* – that I was transfixed and could not look away. I tried, I really did… but I was mesmerized… and the champagne and iridescent pink and green macarons I was offered only intensified my hypnotic state.
Notes:
Top: Tangerine orange, geranium, sage, rosemary, artemisia
Middle: Ylang ylang, rose, sandalwood, lily of the valley, magnolia, mint
Base: Coconut, vanilla, musk, moss
Impressions: I was pleasantly surprised by the softly sweet drydown of this well-composed scent. Ylang in Gold had me sniffing my wrist again and again throughout the day. This perfume stayed close to the skin, with a creamy sweetness from the vanilla/coconut/ylang and smooth grounding from the sandalwood and musk. The stunning full-size bottle is hand decorated with specially designed Swarovski crystals, and the fragrance is flecked with golden dust.

Ramón Monegal, one of Spain’s Master Perfumers, and fourth generation of the family that founded Myrurgia S.A., has created his own line of artistic niche fragrances. Soon to launch at Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman (watch for their presentation at Sniffapalooza Fall Ball on October 13th!), the collection includes 14 exquisitely crafted eau de parfums. Each one of the fragrances is so beautiful, we’re finding it hard to choose favorites! Inspired by literature – both the richness of prose, the minimalism of poetry – the fragrances are bottled in special Inkwells, designed by Sr. Monegal himself.
